Description: Mangrove Chutes are an excellent choice for natural nitrate and phosphate control in the reef aquarium. Nitrate removal will keep ammonia levels undetectable, and phosphate removal will aid in the battle against unwanted microalgae growth such as film, diatoms and cyanobacteria. They can be placed in a refugium under 6500k+ lighting, or can also be placed in the display aquarium if there is sufficient room above the tank. For optimal results, be sure to break off and discard brown leaves before they fall back into the aquarium water. The browning of the lower leaves is a natural process and if allowed to fall back into the aquarium they will release all of the absorbed nitrates back into the water. Stem Size:
