Octopus macropus is a medium sized octopus and can be kept in a 30 gallon tank at its juvenile size, however as it grows it will need a larger aquarium, up to 150 gallons. These octopus' bodies are covered in many white spots and they have the ability to change to a dark red color when they feel threatened. The tank should have a lid that completely covers any openings on the top of the tank as these animals have the ability to climb out. Octopus' are very intelligent creatures and make excellent pets. They should be fed live mollusks or crustaceans such as shrimp or crabs on a daily basis. They can also be fed bits of frozen meaty foods.
