Cleaner Crews
- How are your cleaner packages arranged? ReefScavengers' cleaner packages have been arranged by our experienced staff. We have determined the number of each species corresponding to tank size based on years of experience in personal and commercial reefkeeping. We have kept tanks that range in size from 10 gallons up to 500 gallons.
- Are your cleaner packages reef-safe? Yes. All of the inverts in our cleaner packages can be safely kept with all corals (lps, sps, soft) and all invertebrates.
- What will your cleaner package do for my aquarium? Our cleaner packages contain inverts that will consume many different types of algaes including hair, film, diatoms, brown, green, red, bubble & cyanobacteria. Other inverts in the package will also help prevent detritus build-up in the live rock and sandbed.
- That seems like a lot of snails, why so many? We recommend 1 Nassarius Snail per gallon because they are only about 0.25"-0.5" in length and they live under the sand, only emerging to feed on detritus or uneaten fish food; these are not algae eating snails. We recommend 1 Nerite Snail per 2 gallons because they are a bit bigger and live in the rockwork and glass, therefore not fighting for space to live with the nassarius snails; these are the algae eating snails.
- Can I add a cleaner crew to my aquarium right away? Yes, contrary to popular opinion, all of the inverts in our cleaner packages are VERY hardy, some of the hardiest inverts in the hobby. Their hardiness allows them to prevail through spikes in ammonia. Small fish flake or pellet feeding is recommended on a daily basis to keep the non algae eating inverts fed.
