Description: You will receive a 4"x4" bunch of caulerpa, colonized by live copepods and amphipods. Caulerpa is used in the refugium to consume phosphates, in turn starving nuisance microalgaes from thriving in the display tank. Copepods are tiny crustaceans that inhabit the earths oceans and constitute for the biggest source of protein in those oceans. What does this mean for your reef tank? Without copepods, no marine aquarium is complete! Copepods are a food source for many fish and invertebrates, some species such as sea horses and the Mandarin Dragonette soley rely on these copepods as their food source. The Caulerpa should be added to the refugium and kept under 6500k and up lighting. By adding the caulerpa & copepods to the refugium you will introduce a starter colony which will eventually grow into a full community of copepods which can later be harvested for fish food. Copepods are also excellent detrivores, feeding on the waste and decaying matter that naturally occurs in a reef tank. *NOTE - The state of California regulates the sale of caulerpa and does not allow any species of caulerpa to be imported across state lines. If you live in CA please do not purchase this item. Amount:
