Description: The Basket Starfish is one of the most extraordinary of the echinoderms. They have what seems like hundreds of branching tentacles radiating from a central body. They tend to stay closed up during the day, but once the lights go out they extend their tentacles as much as 12" across to catch plankton and other microorganisms in the water column. Their colors range from orange to brown to beige. These should not be kept in a tank smaller than 55 gallons, and should be fed phytoplankton on a regular basis. They are reef-safe filter feeders.
